Joh Enschede IT and Consultancy, the IT division of the Royal Joh Enschede, a provider of self-service, enterprise and corporate publishing services, has decided to host its virtualised server park at LeaseWeb, a provider of hosting services and products.

Enschede IT and Consultancy (EIT&C) was looking for a hosting service provider with a stable network, in addition to scalability and security. The consultancy was also looking for engineering support when required because of the size of the applications EIT&C develops for clients such as Adobe, Raad voor de Rechtspraak, Mitsubishi Motors Europe and Schiphol.
According to EIT&C, another important factor for selection was the hosting provider's acquaintance with virtualisation software such as VMware. The provider should also ensure that the software used conforms to the company's green policy. EIT&C chose to use LeaseWeb's services because it offered to host the server park in the energy-efficient and climate-neutral data centre, EvoSwitch, complementing EIT&C's green policy. LeaseWeb owns a Cisco-powered network offering a bandwidth of over 160 Gbps and manages more than 11,000 servers.
Edwin van Voorbergen, ICT project manager at Joh EIT&C, said: "The applications that we build for our clients are complex, utilise the newest technologies and are therefore hosted internally. We are not a hosting company, so we have to purchase hosting facilities. We have emphatically chosen to lean on LeaseWeb's hosting expertise. They support us in the field of VMware, Microsoft and Linux. We also do not have our own public network, while LeaseWeb has one which reduces the chances of fatal malfunctions."
Joh EIT&C says that the company hosts the JEA PLUS2 publishing portal for the Utrecht University and Adobe, in addition to other security-sensitive data and projects. It therefore requires additional security to ensure the safety of information. The EvoSwitch data centre offers biometric security, the strictest norm for information security: ISO 27001. It also provides enhanced cooling methods and co-operation with TNO; the autonomous power supply, which influenced Joh EIT&C's decision.
